Non-Contact Web Cleaning

CyClean™-R Wide Web System

Product Code CyClean-R Wide

The CyClean-R Wide handles webs from 1300mm to over 4000mm width under low-tension conditions. A carapace design provides structural rigidity for wide-web systems. Uses Hyperion 924IPS static elimination with fixed or pneumatic tilt opening options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between contact and non-contact web cleaning?

Non-contact web cleaning (CyClean) uses CFD-optimised airflow to disrupt the boundary layer of air traveling with the web, lift particles from the surface, and extract them through vacuum — without any physical contact with the substrate. This is the preferred method for sensitive substrates: coated films, printed surfaces, optical-grade materials, and any web that would be damaged or marked by roller contact. Maximum web speed: 800 m/min. Contact web cleaning (VacClean, RoClean, TakClean) uses physical rollers or brushes that touch the web surface. VacClean combines ionization, elastomer contact rollers, and vacuum extraction. TakClean uses adhesive sheets to trap fine particles. RoClean uses rotating brushes with ionization. Contact systems clean more aggressively and are used for robust substrates: uncoated paper, cardboard, textiles, metal foils. VacClean operates at up to 1,600 m/min.

What is the CyClean non-contact web cleaner?

CyClean is Meech's non-contact web cleaning system that removes sub-micron contamination from moving webs without touching the material surface. It uses a patented CFD-optimised airflow design: a precisely shaped air stream disrupts the boundary layer of air traveling with the web, lifts particles from the surface, and captures them in an integral vacuum extraction system. CyClean is available in several configurations: the standard CyClean for free-span webs with adequate tension, and the CyClean-R for webs positioned around rollers or low-tension applications where the standard CyClean would be less effective. CyClean-R comes in narrow (100-350 mm), mid (350-600 mm), and wide variants, while the standard CyClean covers wider webs for packaging and printing lines. It is the preferred cleaning system for sensitive substrates — coated films, printed surfaces, optical-grade materials — where contact cleaning would cause damage.

What is non-contact web cleaning?

Non-contact web cleaning removes contamination from a moving web (material from roll) without any physical contact with the material surface. The Meech CyClean system uses CFD-optimized (computational fluid dynamics) airflow to lift particles from the surface and capture them in a vacuum extraction system. The process: a boundary layer of air travels with the moving web; the CyClean disrupts this boundary layer, lifts particles free, and extracts them before they can redeposit. Non-contact cleaning is essential for sensitive substrates that could be damaged by physical contact — thin films, coated surfaces, printed materials, and optical-grade substrates.
