Vortex Tube

Meech air amplifiers use the Coanda and Venturi effects to entrain large volumes of ambient air using a small compressed air input. Compressed air enters through a narrow annular gap and adheres to the profiled internal surface (Coanda effect), creating a low-pressure zone that draws in surrounding air (Venturi effect). The result is an amplification ratio of 4:1 to 25:1 — meaning up to 25 parts ambient air for every 1 part compressed air. Air amplifiers are available in 5 sizes with outlet diameters from 18 mm to 100 mm, manufactured in aluminium or stainless steel. Noise levels are approximately 78 dBA at the 51 mm model. Applications include: cooling hot products after moulding or extrusion, drying after washing or coating, blow-off of particles and debris, ventilation of confined spaces, light conveying of small parts, and HVAC integration for directed airflow.

A vortex tube is a device with no moving parts that separates compressed air into a cold stream and a hot stream simultaneously. Compressed air enters the tube tangentially at high pressure, creating a rapidly spinning vortex. The outer layer of the vortex exits one end as hot air; the inner core reverses direction and exits the other end as cold air — up to 50 °C below the inlet temperature. This is the Ranque-Hilsch effect. Meech vortex tubes are manufactured in stainless steel and operate optimally at 60-100 PSI (4-7 bar) inlet pressure. They are available in two sizes with 10 different generator models, each producing a different cold/hot air ratio and flow rate. Vortex tubes are the core technology behind Cabinet Coolers and Coldstream Air Guns.

This reduces compressed air consumption by 60-80% compared to open tubes or nozzles delivering the same airflow volume. Air amplifiers are used for cooling, drying, blow-off, ventilation, and conveying applications where compressed air cost is a concern.
